On Saturday, June 13, 2020, I will be taking part in the Iowa Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma Walk and Family Day at Grandview University in Des Moines, Iowa.
I was diagnosed 13 years ago with Systemic Scleroderma. Scleroderma is a chronic connective tissue disease generally classified as an autoimmune disease. The word "Scleroderma" comes from two Greek words: "sclero" meaning hard, and "derma" meaning skin. Hardening of the skin is one of the most visible manifestations of the disease. Internal hardening can also occur in the heart, lungs, kidneys, and digestive system. I am still working to help find a cure and to stop the progression of this devastating disease. Funds that are raised at this event are used to support those with Scleroderma, to educate others, and for research.
Please help by supporting me and coming to the walk, or by making a donation. Donating through this website is simple, fast, and totally secure. It is the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
