2024 Stepping Out Napa CA

Team Rosemarie

Thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page.  My name is Rosemarie.  I am a mom, wife, daughter, sister, Aunt, God mother, friend and a Scleroderma Warrior.  I have been living with Scleroderma also known as Systemic Sclerosis for over 25 years.

I started having symptoms in 1998, a few years later I was diagnosed with Scleroderma.  Each Scleroderma patient’s journey varies in development and symptoms.   My first symptom was Raynaud’s Syndrome causing painful digital ulcers.  Following the chronic pain, I developed G.E.R.D.  In 2015, my CT scans showed Bronchiectasis towards the lower part of my lungs.  On top of that I also have Asthma (Dx 1997).   In 2022, I started noticing shortness of breath and rapid heart rate just from talking or walking.  After tests and observations, I found out my heart was working harder because of the lack of oxygen.  I’m currently on supplemental oxygen and hopefully be able to take OFEV (Nintedanib) soon.  I also participate in Pulmonary Rehab to strengthen my lungs twice a week.

I was able to medically retire in 2022, which made it possible to embrace motherhood without working.  As usual, I like to keep busy so I’m trying to be active in the Scleroderma and Pulmonary Fibrosis community.  This year I will be participating the Scleroderma walk in Napa.  The mission of our walk is to heighten awareness, but more importantly to raise funds for critical research into the treatment and cure of this life-threatening disease and to improve the lives of those living with scleroderma.

If you would like to join our team and help raise funds, please click on “Join Team” and follow the directions.
