Welcome to My "Hope Raising" Page: Deadwood-Mickelson Trail Half Marathon (13.1 Miles) - June 3rd, 2018
I am Hope Raising for the Scleroderma Foundation to help people whose lives have been affected by this challenging autoimmune disease and I need your support!
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
All contributions are for the Scleroderma Foundation to use to help find a cure for people whose lives have been affected by scleroderma.
I was diagnosed with systemic scleroderma to kick of the new year in 2016. I am not typical of scleroderma patients. Most patients cannot run anymore. I know that losing the ability to run may be in my future too. I am not as fast as I was and running is more painful now. My systemic scleroderma affects my muscles, my connective tissue, and causes arthritis. In many people it will impact the lungs and/or heart. Ironically my body hurts more when I do not move and I am stiff if I sit for any length of time. So, while I can run, I will run--and I am running with a purpose. So, please donate.
I will be running the Deadwood-Mickelson Trail Half Marathon (13.1 miles). I will be wearing a shirt that my daughter, Seger, had made for me. On the front it says, "Scleroderma Awareness---Because it Matters" and on the back it has my personal slogan for fighting systemic scleroderma: "Relax, Pray, & Keep Moving."
I encourage you to learn more about scleroderma and the Scleroderma Foundation, please visit national.scleroderma.org.
Thank you for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
