2021 Southern California Virtual Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma

Hal's Dream Team

Thank you for visiting our Team Fundraising page to support the virtual "Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma" event!  This page is dedicated to the memory of our father, husband and friend, Hal Cherman.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to support our team’s effort to raise funds for people living with scleroderma. To make a donation, click on "Support" or on one of the team members to make a gift towards their fundraising effort to help our team.

If you would like to join our team, please click on “Join My Team” and follow the directions.

We've made a lot of progress, thanks to several of you and to everyone else who supports this cause. Hal's prospects for a longer life would be much greater today than they were when he passed away 21 years ago from complications due to scleroderma. We just have to keep going until this thing is eradicated for good. Scleroderma does not get the publicity and dollars that other causes do, (including diseases with a comparable or lower rate of affliction), but believe me, it's a very worthy cause. Your donations will be used effectively to fund research, support and education, and you can be confident that you've done a good deed.

Help our team bring more awareness to scleroderma so we can find a cure!

If you work for a company that matches gifts, please take advantage of their generosity and have your gift matched. Here's the info you may need to provide your employer:

Scleroderma (or systemic sclerosis) is a chronic, degenerative, autoimmune disease that affects the body's connective tissue due to an overproduction of collagen. The most visible manifestation of the disease is a hardening of the skin, which can deform one's appearance. Progression of the disease occurs at different paces, frequently involving complications of the internal organs. It is a painful, life altering disease that is frequently fatal.
