Thank you for visiting my personal fundraising page to support the "Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma" event!
As most of you know, I was diagnosed 7 1/2 years ago with Systemic Diffuse Scleroderma, a very complex autoimmune disease. Scleroderma means hard skin.
The disease can attack vital organs and cause complications. As I was diagnosed with Interstitial lower lobe lung disease, basically scarring of the lung.
it's very easy to contract other contagious illnesses, especially during these trying times of COVID. I had to stop taking a medication that slows the scarring of the lungs, due to the drug making me more susceptible to getting COVID. Winter was rough, it always takes a toll on my hands due to my Reynauds. Causing many ulcer sores on the fingers which can be very painful. Also this as year I got a horrifying thumb infection that required 2 ER visits and many months to heal.
There is no cure for this disease and Team Skippy would like that to change! Everyday researchers are learning more about this disease, and by running different trials for medications to slow the process of the disease. Please help us reach our goal of $1,500 to help assist in finding a cure. Thank you for your continued support!
