Dear Family and Friends,
As many of you know, this year I’ll be participating in the 2021 Highland Park Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma virtual walk, a fundraising event supporting the work of the Scleroderma Foundation Greater Chicago Chapter.
To minimize the spread of COVID-19 and protect our scleroderma community, we have decided to transition all in-person walks planned for this year to an online experience....hopefull the last year. We hope you will join us as a “virtual walker” on August 21st. Whether walking in the park, down the street, or on a treadmill, we can still show our support for Scleroderma patients and have fun doing it!
Scleroderma is a chronic, often progressive autoimmune disease that causes hardening of the skin, can damage internal organs, and even become fatal. Scleroderma affects over 300,000 people. This disease remains misunderstood, misdiagnosed and underfunded.
Many of us live with the challenges that this disease presents everyday and we appreciate those of you who have so generously made contributions in the past. You can help us get one step closer to finding a cure for this disease by supporting this walk. The money we raise promotes public awareness, stimulates and supports research and helps patients and their families cope through support programs, peer counseling, physician referrals, and educational information.
Thank you for your continued support and for bringing us one step closer to a cure!
Grateful,
Franny
