This year, we need your positivity more than ever.
It’s been a year full of change. A year full of uncertainty. And for many, a year full of challenges. Throughout 2020, the Michigan Chapter has faced many of these challenges of our own. We’ve struggled to meet fundraising goals, planned, and then re-planned events, and worked day and night to meet the growing needs of our community.
Through every hurdle, we’ve tried to see the positive. And now, you have a chance to be part of that positive impact. Donate to the Michigan Chapter to turn a hard year into a positive one.
See just how we’ve found the good:
- Moving our largest fundraiser, Stampede Scleroderma, online...
*Allowed us to explore a safer virtual platform and lay plans for future events
- Running $76,000 behind our fundraising goal...
*Brought the community together as they got creative with media, celebrities and the #Trickshotsforscleroderma campaign
- Taking our in-person medical school educational days online...
*Opened opportunities to expand our reach to school across the state, and let us meet virtually with MSU Osteopathic School of Medicine and Wayne State University students
- Transitioning our in-person support groups online...
*Led to increased attendance, as well as international presence, at our new online support groups
- Meeting virtually instead of in-person with the Governor and 15 congressional offices...
*Resulted in the declaration of June as National Scleroderma Month
- Closing our office doors and caring for the community from home...
*Increased our hunger to expand advocacy efforts (including providing funding of a $150,000 two-year research project at Michigan Medicine through the Scleroderma Foundation’s Peer Review Research Grant Program) and fueled our passion to serve
“After seeing the FOX 2 news coverage of #trickshotsforscleroderma, I was moved to tears. I thought I was the only person in my community who had scleroderma and was feeling alone, vulnerable and helpless. I called Laura Dyas at the Southfield Office and we talked on the phone for over an hour. It was the first time in 8 months that I felt positive about the future.” -Michigan Scleroderma Patient

Did you know? Many Americans can deduct $300 from their 2020 taxable income if they give it to charity, even though they take the standard deduction. Married-jointly taxpayers may get an above-the-line deduction of up to $600.
