Speaker Bios

  Flavia Castelino, MD

 Dr CastelinoDr. Flavia Castelino is the Director of the Scleroderma Program at Massachusetts General Hospital and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. She is a board-certified physician in the Division of Rheumatology, and she specializes in the treatment of scleroderma and connective tissue disease-associated interstitial lung disease (CTD-ILD). Dr. Castelino founded the MGH Scleroderma Program with a focus on providing outstanding comprehensive care for patients with scleroderma and related conditions. Dr. Castelino is additionally a principal investigator on several clinical trials evaluating novel therapies for the treatment of scleroderma.

 

   Jane Dematte D'Amico, MD

Dr. Dematte is the Director of the Interstitial Lung Disease Program at Northwestern University. Her clinical interest and expertise are in the evaluation and management of interstitial lung disease with a particular focus on lung disease associated with connective tissue diseases such as scleroderma. More recently, her research interests have expanded in working with our basic scientists to explore the pathobiology of inflammation, injury and fibrosis in the lungs of patients with ILD and pulmonary fibrosis. Dr. Dematte completed her medical school, residency, and fellowship at Stony Brook University.  She is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease, and Critical Care Medicine.

 

  Ed Harris, MD

Harris — originally the founder and CEO of a software company — is a Scleroderma patient and researcher. Mr. Harris currently serves as Director of the Scleroderma Education Project, a non-profit venture with a goal of providing unbiased, up-to-date, research-based, comprehensive information about systemic scleroderma diagnosis and treatments. While the main focus is on patient education, some of the information on the scleroderma Education Project website (SclerodermaInfo.org) is targeted at physician education as well.  Mr. Harris has dual master’s degrees in Research Clinical Psychology and Computer Science from University of Wisconsin-Madison.
