CENTRAL NC SSc SUPPORT GROUP MEETING (VIRTUAL – ZOOM)

Date/Time: Thursday, February 27, 2025, 6pm ET – 7:30pm ET
Location: Zoom - Register Here
Guest: Donald Miller, PhD, MS, RN, Faculty at Marquette University, College of Nursing
Topic: The process of maintaining self while living with a changing body due to scleroderma

People living with scleroderma may struggle to adapt psychologically to their illness and have feelings of identity loss and self-diminishment. What is known about the identity management process in people with disfiguring and debilitating conditions and how can one maintain a sense of self while on this journey? With the help of the National Scleroderma Foundation, Dr. Miller conducted research on this topic and has published his findings in a doctoral dissertation and in academic nursing journals.
